October 22, 2020

Hafa Adai,

The "BER" months, have come strong, I can't believe October is almost done. This means Christmas is just around the corner. The pandemic has been a very stressful time for many, but if we think about it there are many blessings that have come our way. We need to focus on this as the year is coming to a close.

I am blessed that I am celebrating our chapter's 50th year and look forward to its continued growth and strength in its members. We awarded and recognized posthumously Carmen Santos as our Professor John M. Phillips Excellence in Government Accountability Awardee. Since May 1st, we have had 16 new members. Thanks to our Membership Director Jojo Guevara who recruited 5 of the 16 new members. We are well on our goal of 50 new members.

Before the end of this month, our Accountability Director Dr. Doreen Crisostomo will be releasing our Chapter's Citizen Centric Report. We are proud to say we have been producing this report continuously for the last 10 years. We will also be recognizing "50 GovGuam Professionals Under 40 Years of Age". These professionals were selected based on their leadership growth and potential. We look forward to their continued contributions to our community.

We will be providing scholarships to a deserving college student at our membership meeting on October 28th and listening intently to prospective legislative candidates. I urge all members who are able to, please donate $50 to fund our community service to the homeless or to the scholarship fund. This is in lieu of your service hours for the last 6 months. Donations can be sent to our Post Office Box 1124 Hagatna, Guam 96932, or transferred to our account via PayPal.

Thank you and stay safe.

Best Regards,

Pilar Pangelinan
